Events

Voices of Cook aims to strengthen community engagement in the democratic process by providing a venue that encourages the discussion of ideas, concerns and needs in an open and respectful setting.

In order to do this we use a 'Kitchen Table Conversations' process and a survey to gather and present community ideas and concerns in a Listening Report. These will be supported by events such as forums and webinars, as well as informal gatherings such as coffee chats, politics in the pub and 'democracy walks'.

To express interest in any of our upcoming events click on the RSVP button below the event you are interested in and fill in your details. One of our team members will be in touch with you shortly.

Climate Writers Session in Cook!

Making climate action fun and easy for everyday Australians.  A gatho for people to write letters to politicians about climate action.  Come and join us!

Climate Writers is a non-partisan grassroots community that empowers the average Australian to become lifelong advocates for the environment and their local community.

After feeling powerless about the government’s inaction to climate change given the bushfires and floods in 2020/2021, they trained as facilitators under Climate for Change to teach everyday Australians what they can do about climate change. In April 2022, the urgency of the climate crisis compelled them to shift from hosting conversations about climate change, to carving a space for dedicated action.

This community has since grown entirely through word-of-mouth to 200+ attendees, of which 75% had never written to a politician before. It starts with events like these that empower the average Australian on how to take effective climate action.

In a collaboration between Climate Writers and Voices of Cook, we would like to invite you to this special Climate Writers session right here in Cook. Please go here to register for this session. Please bring your laptop on the day!
